Casting workshop with Ruth

In this workshop I used a casting technique where we take a mould from a piece of fruit using plaster and scrim to strengthen the mould.  I made my mould in 3 sections so it would be easier to take apart and put back together. While making the mould I made sure I left a funnel to pour the wax into the mould.
I made my mould in 3 sections so it would be easier to take apart and put back together. While making the mould I made sure I left a funnel to pour the wax into the mould. When I had finished making the mould I scraped the edges until I could see the seam, then using a chisel and hammer I took them apart, them rejoined them, then I poured wax into the funnel and waited for It to set and cool. Then, using the same technique with a chisel and hammer, I took them apart to reveal my wax banana.
